Description: |
This was first released in 1919 and is a highly collectible bottle. It is still sealed with string and label is in perfect condition. Vigny created this bottle in many sizes. This is the smallest size.
This is a floral chypre that is warm, dark, and rich, redolent of vanilla, musk and ambergris, deepened by the vetiver, civet and styrax. The nose behind this fragrance was Jacque Vogel.
The term Golliwogg began life in the late 19th century as a doll, which appeared in a number of children's books by Florence Upton. The doll is represented by black skin, eyes rimmed in white, with red lips and frizzy black hair. Golliwoggs were loved by children of all races, along with the teddy bear, up until the 1970s and were collected in the Caribbean.
The bottle design was created by Michel de Brunoff and his brother-in-law Lucien Vogel (one of the founders of Vigny perfume house) - both editors of the French Vogue. Vogue France is the French edition of Vogue magazine that was created in 1920. |
